China Spends Billions In U.S. Land Purchases

U.S. Citizens and Conservative Leaders Have Alarming Concerns Over China’s Strategic U.S. Land Purchases

Rural Communities all across America are being invaded by foreign countries who have purchased U.S. Land, and while a few other countries (like Canada at 12.8M acres, which is quite interesting in itself), may supposedly own more U.S. Land acreage than China, the imminent concern has become the strategic purchases made by China as to the locations of the hundreds of thousands of acres they now own. Some of these locations are in close proximity to U.S. Military Bases, and if this alone doesn’t raise a huge red flag, the fact that China has installed Cell towers and telecommunications equipment from the Chinese based manufacturer Huawei in rural America that could pose a severe national security threat, should very well raise concerns.

Huawei, is a Chinese state supported telecommunications company based in Shenzhen, China that has become a world leader in 5G technology and infrastructure that could contain backdoors posing threats of U.S. national security through internet attacks and offensive signal jamming from the interception of real time communications and imagery of U.S. military intelligence, including those by the U.S. Strategic Command, which oversees our country’s nuclear weapons.

Some of the cell towers known to be equipped with China Huawei technology in close proximity to sensitive U.S. military and intelligence sites, include cell phone towers in Montana near Malmstrom Air Force Base, and cell towers owned by ‘Viaero’ in western Nebraska and rural carrier ‘Union Wireless” in Wyoming which are both near intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) silos and overseen by F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming.

A Chinese based company named the Fufeng Group purchased 300 acres in Grand Forks, North Dakota, just 16 miles from the U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command base with the supposed intention of building a corn-milling plant which was denied in January after officials called it a security risk and said to be well sited to intercept military communications between ‘unmanned air systems’ and ‘space based assets’. And we all remember the Chinese ‘spy’ balloon that China claimed to be an off course weather balloon that was shot down on February 4, 2023 and revealed its spy equipment capabilities. Alarming concerns have also been raised about the 130,000 acre ranch purchased in Del Rio, Texas near Laughlin Air Force Base which is home to a wind turbine project and its connection to the Texas grid, which could be used to disrupt the state’s electrical system, in addition to the airstrip that could be used to assist drug cartels to cross the border.

Crystal Rhoades, Nebraska telecoms regulator commissioner has been quoted as stating that “An enemy state could potentially see when things are online, when things are offline, the level of security, how many people are on duty in any given building, where there are really dangerous and sophisticated weapons.” CNN reported that China state supported telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE sold tower equipment and routers often at a loss to small rural providers in the U.S. that was installed adjacent to America’s nuclear triad – the 400 Minuteman III ICBM’S in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming.

U.S. Leaders have acknowledged that our national security is at risk by the infiltration of China into our country, and it was reported that China spent $6.1 billion dollars in the last year on housing in the U.S. making it America's top foreign buyer. Since 2012, Congress has been receiving reports that China state sponsored Huawei and ZTE telecommunication companies could pose a severe national security threat to the United States.

In 2017, Congress restricted some Department of Defense networks from using China state sponsored Huawei or ZTE equipment and in 2018, the Trump administration banned more U.S. federal agencies from using the equipment manufactured by these Chinese telecommunication companies. In 2019, President Trump signed an executive order banning U.S. companies from doing business with Huawei (and in 2020 more than 100 of its affiliates) which were added to the U.S. Commerce Dept.’s list restricting it from buying goods from the United States. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to designate Huawei and ZTE as security threats which prevented U.S. internet providers from using federal funds to purchase the tech companies’ equipment. The current administration has upheld the restrictions put in place by President Trump and Congress and the FCC have continued to introduce new bans against Huawei and ZTE.

While these actions may provide important roadblocks and slow down China a bit, it by no means solves the problems we face as a Country against China from invading America. Why do we fail to realize that enemies and adversaries of the United States of America do not play according to our rules or abide by U.S. Laws or regulations, so there is no telling how much land they actually own “off the books” and through bogus corporations that are not being reported. As China’s presence continues to grow in the U.S., it is imperative that we realize China’s business dealings are not transparent and they play by their own rules. In 2021, Joe, Maxell, President of the Family Farm Action group was quoted as stating, “It’s a massive undertaking to verify who really owns the [land]. These foreign interests are pretty smart. The use different business structures to further conceal it.” So true, so true.

It should also be noted that additional reasons for China’s interest in U.S. Land purchases is to own and operate agricultural food processing facilities and Lithium mining plants for electric vehicles controlling and depleting our resources. While new legislation bills have been introduced to Congress, it still remains that Federal law does not restrict how much private U.S. agricultural land can be foreign owned, and State restrictions on foreign land ownership varies. In Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, new restrictions and proposals have been put in place regarding foreign land ownership. It was also recently reported that as of July 1, 2023, any sanctioned individual or citizen of a sanctioned Country on the U.S. Treasury Department’s sanctions list cannot buy real estate in the state of Tennessee which is a small step in the right direction; but we must pass legislation no longer allowing any U.S. Land purchase by any foreign individual, company, or country.

Over 100 Countries across the globe own U.S. Land and our most prominent adversary is quietly buying land near our military bases and installing advanced technological equipment right at our back door. China has for over a decade now, focused on establishing an electronic jamming and intelligence gathering communications capability in the U.S. by purchasing land in the U.S. near military bases which would provide them with a strategic advantage that could cripple our defenses for deterring and defeating a surprise military action against America. The fact that there are China owned cell tower transmitters and receivers installed on United States soil with the capability to remotely transmit and receive national security information from nearby U.S. military installations is absolutely frightening. But these national security concerns also include threatening America’s food and water supply, and our very freedoms, not to mention our vulnerability to becoming defenseless against an enemy state in our own Country.

China sees America and its citizens as weak and stupid and if we continue to consume ourselves with just our own personal lives and embrace an attitude of being unconcerned or in constant disbelief as to the severity of the situation, we will one day find ourselves at the mercy of those who wish to do us harm and defeat our nation. Retired U.S. Navy Captain James Fanell said it best, “The idea that a strategic adversary could buy land near U.S. military bases does not pass the common sense test. We’ve got to do better as a nation to defend our citizens from these kinds of obvious threats.”

While it is abundantly clear, China has set its eyes on quietly infiltrating our nation and strategically consuming our resources and crippling our defenses, so we must not allow this to continue or it will soon no longer be the land of the free.
